The press release annpouncing the Argies were in SANZAR talked about the Argentinians playing for existing S14 franchises. One of the reasons for the delay, I would think is for existing plater contracts in Europe to expire.

Good for Arg, but this comes with a few conditions. I believe the best players need to be made available. If they're still in Europe, those will be very long seasons - and possibly overlap into the beginning of the NH season?

So where would they play otherwise? Super 14 unions seem to have a cap on 'foreign' players (i.e. those not elligible for the country in which they play Super rugby), many of which in NZ and Aus go to players from the Pacific Nations ... or at least in the recent past (Fa'atau at Hurricanes). I can't even think of any PIs right now, with the only 'ineligible' player in either country I can think of is Daniel Braid who was on one with Queensland last year.

With the expansion to Super 15 looming, I would like to see that franchise (likely to be based in Melbourne?) opened up for PIs, Argentines, and fringe Aussies ... of which there are many who don't get a look when they're young, and end up signing on with a League team.

Maybe someday we can be part of the Six Nations. Its a dream but could be realized if we ever get a domestic national league.

Great news that Argentina finally is joining the tri nations. But it shows how Canada was spinning its wheels. Only 20 years ago, Canada was regularly beating Argentina (maybe not regular, but at par), now they are accept as being a part of the elite.

I hope this gives hope that we can also move to this ranking.
