If you are a sports consultant I'm not sure I would use your services. You may know your stuff where you are from but it obviously isn't Canada. Tell me of any big name companies in Canada that would pay more than $5000 dollars for naming rights for a rugby competion here. You need a market and there isn't one here now to support a semi-pro league. That is why we have to concntrate on the grass roots for many years to come until there are far more people familiar with the game to support it.

We still have to have a high level domestic league for player's to compete in but it isn't going to be proffessonal for a while yet. The ARC is a step in the right direction and I hope that next year it could be home and awya for the Canadian teams. In a one month season you could see the growth of the teams so double the game and get that much more development for the players. Luckily the IRB is sponsoring this competion for a couple of years at least and hopefully we can use this time to build up a folloeing and market the game better so that when they withdraw there development funds we can run it on the sponsorship, gate takings and maybe even TV rights that we can raise.

Where are you from, by the way.

a mere 10 mill, let me check the couch cushions. Quit huffing your glue bag. I don't have much faith in Rugby Canada, but if people were handing out 10 million for naming rights, they would have been able to figure out Jerseys for the NSWT.

Spargs I think we can do it.

I am a sports consultant I it is actually very possible, you would need a minimum of $10million to start a tournament like this, and that would render you quite comfortable. The money can be obtained by selling name rights and officiality rights to sponsors or big companies and consortiums. A sugar daddy will help, but its not need.

How would your tournament look like?

Sounds great, If I win a huge lottery I'll fund it. It has to make enough to cover expenses, which I very much doubt it would. Great idea but it won't happen without a sugar daddy.

I was thinking the other day, wouldn't it be great if Canada had it's own semi-professional to professional rugby league? One that we could compare in every facet with competitions like the Currie Cup, Magners League, Air New Zealand Cup and even maybe the Heineken Cup or Super14?

Well obviously there would be certain differences, like we would have a lot smaller crowds, but would that matter if we get to see great rugby? And if we could put something together that has such a competition structure that we are able to get broadcasting rights for a couple of years, it would mean natural more support at games.

Imagine the possibilities of creating new single entity franchised professional rugby teams who compete week in and week out in a glamoures rugby competition. Think of the oppertunities of rugby development and how such a league/competition could glorify rugby in Canada!

What do you guys think? Is it just me or would you also love that dream to come true, or do you have certain more controversial views on this? And let's add a fantasy thought: how would you see your fantasy professional tournament?
