Just putting this out there again. Has there been any thought of having an Eastern Ontario/Quebec side. This would make the most sense would it not?

While there is certainly the player numbers in that region it didn't seem to me there was any intention to expand the number of canadian teams involved but rather consolidate what they had.
Maybe this is something that could be considered for the future though.

Not if they stay at four teams, no way.

It would make sense to have an ARC side in that region. Then the Ottawa based players wouldn't have to travel to Toronto for training if they make the Blues. Having Quebec/Eastern Ontario side would actually be fairly competitive.

The ARC Canadian section as set up last year was four teams: BC, The Prairies, Ontario, and the Rock which is all five provinces east of Ontario. Your proposal would make it five teams and I doubt the Eastern Ontario/Quebec team would be very competitive. They would not have one current national team player, I don't think.

Is the ARC not supposed to be some sort of a developmental league as well Harry? Quebec has been not too bad over recent years in the old RCSL but I do know that EORU has been not up-to-par with the their Sr. rep team

Harry how can you say that they would not be competitive? An Eastern Ontario/Quebec team would be the best move the league could make. It is small minded to restrict the size and growth in one of the most populated rugby zones in. Shite if we all had your approach we would still be watching 6 teams in the NHL.

We're not deep enough in talent to have more than 4 regions. Unfortunate but true. All a fifth team would do is water down Ontario and / or the Rock.
If we had the depth...go for it, unfortunately we don't as yet, and it will take tame to grow the base enough to have that kind of depth.

There is a subunion competion run within each area of the ARC. Quebec and Eastem Ontario each had a team in it last year. Quebec which is in the Rock's jurisdiction played in the Ontario competion along with Niagara, Toronto and Eastern Ontario. Easten Ontario and Quebec each lost to Toronto and Niagara by large scores. There has not been a club from Easern Ontario that has made it past the quarter finals of the McCormick Cup this century. As Winger states 4 is a good number to keep the league at for now, maybe dowm the road there will be room for new teams but lets consolidate what we have before expanding it.

How many players acutally will play for the Ontario Blues this year from EORU? How many Quebec players will play for the ARC Rock this year? 2 maybe? I'm just saying by having a combined side of Eastern Ont/Quebec it might develop some players for the Sr. side.

I live in Quebec city. For now, the team in my heart is the Laval University women rugby team.
I'd sure like to adopt a team in the ARC, but there's is none that I can be emotionnely inclined to support. They're all too far from me, physicaly and culturaly.
Geez, Quebec city would be magical, Montreal would be great and Ottawa, well, it would be OK.
But, I understand life, and if it's not viable then be it and I'll wait for better days.Posted 1 year ago #
