The final games in New Jersey are not on Setanta, any idea if there will be live coverage of the game?

You appear to be right scarface. Skysports 2 will be covering the game live so we might be able to pick it up off of justin.tv if we are lucky.
Don't understand setanta not covering it. it seems strange to me.

Why do you think it won't be on Setanta? Do you have a source for that?
I just scanned ahead on the tv schedule and the games appear to be live on Setanta, as per usual. It would be a bloody shame if they weren't shown...

My source is the setanta website. I'm not sure what schedule you are looking at but it is out of date. the current sched for both their online and tv listing for satuday have no churchill cup. If you have can point me to where I can see otherwise I will be grateful.

I don't think it is out of date as it has the proper fixtures in the right order, with all the games being live. Hopefully its just an error on the Setanta website... Not showing the finals wouldn't make any sense at all.

Doug Crosse's comments not withstanding, Setanta is not covering the games on Saturday. I just received the following email from setanta in regards to my query about coverage.
Dear Mr. rusty_lock,
Many thanks for your email.
We do not have broadcasting rights for this game.
If you have any other queries please do not hesitate to contact us.
Kind regards,
Fran
Setanta-i Team
So if anyone has any suggestions how i might be able to view the game that doesn't involve an airplane, hotel and rental car I would be greatly obliged

Rusty,
I got the same e-mail from Setanta and actually forwarded to Doug Crosse as the RC site specifically states the game is on Setanta. He is investigating.....

Thats strange considering Setanta is running promos for the Churchill cup finals day all the time.

If Setanta doesn't have the rights to broadcast this game why did they have it in their TV listings to begin with. It was also in the Shaw listings.

It's on - RC actually spoke with Setanta directly (according to the article anyway) and despite what your shaw listing might show, all CC games are on tomorrow.

Man, this sucks... the game is on Setanta TV, but not Setanta-i. What do you think the odds are many pubs will be showing it instead of soccer? :(

Sweet, Setanta-i schedule updated with game :)

For anyone in the Toronto area, Scallywag's says they will have the game up.

Great work RC. Good to have another Canada game live on TV!

23-13 at the half.
They have looked alright so far but for a few missed kicks, a couple that were gimme's, this could be a lot closer.
munro out with gall blatter problem and evans is in at 10. Evans is a sweet ball runner.
Scrum is getting mashed
No real surprises

38 - 18 Final.
Scoring:
Canada
Tries: Matt Evans, Chauncey O'Toole, Ryan Smith
Penalty: Ciaran HearnEngland Saxons
Tries: Nick Abendanon, Alex Goode, Jon Clarke, Luke Narraway
Penalty: Stephen Myler (4)
Conversions: Stephen Myler (3)One has to wonder, when will O'Toole be signed by an European club like Evans was recently. He seems to have the all the ability to play over there.

Quite impressed with Canada overall. I think we'e competing quite well in the loose, especially wth ball in hand.
The areas that we are suffering in are obvious: in scrums and open field tackling. The thing is that we are getting absolutely demolished in the sets about as bad as I've seen any country get rubbished. If we can improve in this area then I believe we have the ability to surprise even some top nations.

I agree RnM, Our ability to compete in spite of our scrum going backwards at 60 miles and hour is quite incedible. Establish a stable set piece and let the boys run from there and we could even see a few more surprises. Denfinately proud of the boys and how they played over the last couple of weeks. Some silky back play and definately some good loose forward play demonstrated that we are improving. Now we just need to see the same marked improvement in the tight five.
Well done boys

I think it hard not to be impressed by our performance at the Chrchill Cup. I wish we had won but making the final was no mean feat. Way to go boys, good luck in the future and see you in New Zealand next year.
Could we be better, obviously yes, but we could also be a ot worse. I am encouraged by our progress but I am also realstic about our chances. for us to make the second round at the World Cup would be a huge suprise but that doesn't mean we can't try for it and give all supporters a pleasant suprise by making it. Go Canada Go.

Overall, a very good Churchill Cup for the team. We scored some high quality tries, and the team can now play much quicker on the "O" side of the ball.
J. Cudmore and Tkachuk will help in the scrum, but I am unsure if they will be enough to beat both Japan and Tonga next year. Fairhurst, White and Carpenter were having a torrid time behind the scrum. All three are good players who can add more to set piece play if the scrum can be stabilized.
I thought Tait had a very good tournament. He and J. Cudmore can form a quality second row.
The back row of Kleeberger, O'toole, Carpenter and Dala is very good. And with perhaps the likes of McKeen, SMS, Pearson there is depth at this position.
With Evans and DTH, we now have a couple of players with speed, vision and creativity in the back five that the NMST has never had previously. Evans, barring injury, can be Canada's best ever rugger! And Gareth Rees will have to get used to being called Canada's second best rugby player.
Usually, a year before a world cup, we hear of a couple of Canadian eligible players coming up to try and make the national team. I believe Coach Crowley wanted Brent Thompson to come from Taranaki this summer, but injury forced Thompson to withdraw.

Gareth may be our most famous but not sure he was best. My vote still goes to Gord McKinnon. Al Charron would get some votes as well.

Depends on the Era. Today with water breaks and subs, players are becoming less fit and bigger and stronger. Props are playing 1/2-2/3 a game. So the move to have bigger players than have less endurance is coming.
Posted 1 year ago # -
We all know that Gareth Rees was extremely fit, don't we.
Posted 1 year ago # -
Don't fool yourself. Players at this level are ALL fitter and faster AND bigger and stronger than they have ever been. Their preparation and training is far more intense and scientific than you can imagine. You have props going over 10 on beep tests. As for the water breaks and subbing, that is also more an indication of the greater knowledge of physiology and the damage that can be done through extreme dehydration and the work rate expected of the front row.
