Another feather in the cap of Central Ontario rugby! Well done, boys!
Guelph Centennial won the AAA/AAAA girls, preventing Ashbury from what would have been four straight golds ... and it would appear Trenton girls completed a rare double (same school?) by bringing home the A/AA gold.

Yes, it is the same school. Trenton HS also won the Junior girls title on Sunday at the Barbarian Cup at Fletcher`s Fields. Centennial SS in Belleville made the final of the Junior boy`s division losing to Uxbridge HS. The COSSA region took 3 out of 4 OFSAA titles. Lindsay CVI won the `AAA` senior boy`s title. Rugby is alive and well in the Bay of Quinte and Kawartha High School Leagues.

Rugby seems to be strong all across Ontario, which is good for us all. Now we just need to get a much larger percentage of these players, male and female, into the clubs and on to rep teams.

High School teams are going to be getting set for the 2010 Rugby season very soon. In the mean time, there was a 16 team 7's tournament at Fletcher's a couple of weeks ago. Barrie Central and Lorne Park (Mississauga) played in the final with Lorne Park winning by a considerable margin. Last year BCI won this tourney.
Apparently, Lorne Park who surprised many in the OFSAA 'AAA' championships last year (finished 2nd to Lindsay), has 9 starters coming back this year of which 7 played for Ontario Provincial teams... This squad should be one to keep our eyes on...Posted 2 years ago #
