I am currently researching the history of women's international rugby. Currently there is no complete record of every women's international, but after several year's research I have traced the results of nearly 800 games (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canada_women's_national_rugby_union_team for Canadian games, or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Women's_international_rugby_union for the complete list) and only one game remains where the score and result is unknown.

That game took place in Canada as part of the first women's Canada Cup on 8th June 1983, probably in Toronto, between Canada and Wales. Although I have information about all other games played in this tournament, this one game remains a mystery. ANY help on this game would be greatly appreciated!

In addition I also need to track down the venues of three early Canadian games. I have the scores, but do not now where the games were played. Could anyone help with these? The games were:

    8th August 1988 v USA
    3rd September 1989 v USA
    13th September 1993 v USA

Any help you could give would be appreciated!

July 6, 1997 is listed as Canada losing to the US. I can't recall if that was the case but I definitely recall a Canada v England match at Ajax around about that date.

I was one of the TJ's.

England won, can't recall the score but I think it was close. Harry might have the details...

As England were playing in New Zealand in August 1997 its unlikely that they would have been touring Canada a month earlier. Not impossible, but given women's rugby budgets pretty unlikely.

Actually, checking back it is possible that some of the 1993 Canada Cup games may have been in Ajax - and in that series England only beat Canada 12-8.

IN which case... did you TJ the game a few days earlier with Wales, because THAT is the game I need!

Canada did play England at Ajax in 93, I was at the game and it was a good one. I know they also played the USA there at one point, probably a few years later.

The 93 Canada Cup was not played exclusively at Fletchers, there were also games in Brampton and Ajax. I will try to find programs and give you details.

Hello John. A good person to retrieve info about those games might be Jo Reinbold of the Edmonton Rockers. I believe I was playing an old boys game at the Wanderer's pitch back in '93 and she was there for a womens National Side game. You can get her contact info from http://www.rockersrugby.com in the executive contact page under "Facilities"

    John,

I wasn't the TJ or ref in that one. I think that weekend I was TJ'ing England vs Ontario in Lindsay (if memory serves me correctly). England put 100 pts on the Ontario girls in that one...
