  8. Hi
    To introduce myself.
I am Peter Mooney and I am the RWC 2011 Event Manger for the Hawke's Bay Region which includes Napier where Canada will play 2 of their 4 pool games in RWC 2011.
I am contracted to the regional Tourism and Economic Development agency and can provide any help or information that people may want as they plan their trip to the Tournament.
I don't have an affilliation to any particular operator or service provider so I can be impartial in the advice I give.
If you want to stay in touch with developments in Hawke's Bay in the lead up to the cup go to the blog at http://www.havingaball.co.nz and register. You will then get monthly updates via email which will include advance information re tickets for festival events happenning during RWC 2011.

I'll be there like I have been to all six previous tournaments. Napier was the venueof ourfirts ever match where we tharashed Tonga, 38 to 4 I believe. Rob Frame scored the first try off a number 8 pick up. 17 yeaar old Gareth Rees was at number 10. Great memories.

  14. RWC 2011 – will Japan be in Napier to meet Canada?

This weekend we should find out which team wins the Asia Group and plays one of its matches in Napier - against Canada. Japan have to be the hot favourites with a 100+ points win last match.

The Brave Blossoms visited Hawke’s Bay a couple of years back for a match with NZ Maori when they were fabulous guests and both the team and the region really enjoyed their visit.

  16. RWC 2011 - Japan Qualify

Congratulations to John Kirwan’s Japan side as they qualified today to play in group A of RWC 2011. This is a team that plays exciting rugby and will face Canada in Napier. They have been wonderful guests in the past and we know we will enjoy their six day stay in HB Wine Country.

  18. RWC 2011 Ticket Sales begin strongly

Early figures from Ticket Sales so far for RWC 2011 are ahead of previous years at this stage – a good sign for the 2011 Tournament. http://bit.ly/cCyOAZ

  20. RWC 2011 – Fans apply for 600,000+ Tickets

Ticket sales are roaring ahead – but there are still many yet to sell.

Eden Park is already over-subscribed so obviously some who have applied will miss out. I hope that’s not you. http://bit.ly/9mCEpF

  21. Obviously many people have received confirmation today of their success in the ballot for RWC team and venue packs because there is a lot of traffic on facebook and twitter from mostly happy people. Some sadly have missed out and a few have had problems with their credit cards but a help desk is working through the issues.

There is a real RWC buzz in cyberspace right now!

I am part of a group of 11 going to the RWC2011. Four of us managed to get tickets. One couple secured their England team packs and I got our Canada team packs for myself and my daughter.

Unfortunately for us, 2 of our applications for 3 and 4 Canada team packs were unsuccessful. We are still looking into other options and hopefully we can pull this off as it has been in the works for the last 3 years.

I started a blog about our trip including the planning. I have done plenty of research and I am planning on posting more on our itinerary and other useful information for those planning the trip to NZ. Trip to Rugby World Cup 2011 Blog

I have never been to New Zealand before and this is my first RWC! Cheers

I've got my Canada pack and looking forward to three weeks over there. Hopefully I can secure a couple of single game tickets to fill in the blank spots in between Canada games. I'm hoping to get a single game NZ-France plus 1 or 2 more if possible (Ireland v. Australia and Scotland v. England would be awesome)QF, SF and Finals are unlikely and it would just be to long to be away but tempting for sure. This will be my first RWC and I'm as excited as can be. I think to be there in an area that is steeped in such rich rugby culture is going to be a once in a lifetime experience.

I'm wondering if the ITM Cup and heartland championship will be running simultaneously as the world cup. I'm pretty sure they did in 2007but venues will be a problem I suspect. It would be nice to see a little of that also.

I'd be curious to compare heartland to ARC or BC premier.

Rusty I'm pretty sure I read those games would be moved out of the World Cup window in 2011, but no 100% sure. Hope to see you over there and have a pint or two. If you are in Palmerston North there is (or was) a great rugby museum.
